- Sendmail 8.13.6
is available (2006-03-22);
it contains a fix for a security problem
discovered by Mark Dowd of ISS X-Force.
Sendmail urges all users of sendmail 8
to upgrade to sendmail 8.13.6.
Notes:
- This affects every sendmail 8 version before 8.13.6.
- At least one party is actively working on developing a
public exploit. Please upgrade as soon as possible.

If you cannot upgrade to
8.13.6, then you can apply a
patch
(PGP signature) to 8.13.5, or a
patch
(PGP signature) for 8.12.11.
Please read some more information about
those patches and the affected sendmail versions.

check with your vendor for a patch.

Sendmail, Inc.
then please see
their advisory.

- Note: the e-mail addresses for
sendmail support have been changed (2005-09-16).

and follow the requirements
for sending e-mails.
- If you are subscribed to sendmail-announce but you did not receive
the announcement about a recent release, then you should check
- your email address which you used to subscribe to sendmail-announce,
- your MTA configuration to see whether that address actually works,
- your anti-spam configuration to see whether mail from sendmail.org
is not rejected.
- IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you download the sendmail distribution
you MUST verify the PGP signature.
Do NOT use sendmail without verifying the integrity
of the source code.
